Edit Device

Proper device management is crucial in large deployments with hundreds of devices to avoid confusion. Users can edit various device information such as Device Name, ID, Group, Comm Mode, Ethernet and Serial to manage the individual devices as per their requirement.

Field Description of Edit Device

INFORMATION

Name:

Displays the default name of the Device. You can change it.

 

Device ID:

Displays the ID of the Device. You can change it.

 

Device Group:

Displays the Group of the Device.
 
To change the Group, click on the box to select the Device Group from the given list. If only one Device Group is defined, it will be displayed by default.
 

Comm Mode:

Displays the Communication mode of the Device.
 
To change it, click on the box to select the Communication Mode from the given list. Following options will be displayed -
  • Ethernet

  • Secured Ethernet

  • Wi-Fi

  • Secured Wi-Fi

  • VPN

  • Secure VPN

  • Cellular

  • Cellular Secure

  • Serial

Device Mode:

Click on the box to select the Mode of Device from the list.

 

Select Entry if the Device will be used at the time of entry. Select Exit if the Device will be used at the time of exit. Select Both if the Device will be used for both entry and exit.

T & A Device

 

NOTE This option will be visible only if IXM Time license is purchased.

 

It denotes whether Time and Attendance feature should be available on the Device or not.

 

Click on the checkbox to enable or disable the feature. A check mark in the box indicates the feature is enabled.

NETWORK

This section allows updating details regarding Ethernet, Serial communications, and WI-FI using which the Device communicates with IXM WEB.

ETHERNET

IP Address:

Displays the IP address of the Device. You can change it.

 

Subnet Mask:

Displays the Subnet Mask of the Device. You can change it.

 

Gateway:

Displays the Gateway address of the Device. You can change it.

 

Port:

Displays the Port number of the Device. You can change it.

SERIAL

COM Port:

Displays the communication port on which the Device is connected. You can change it. To do so, click on the box to select COMM Port from the given list.

Baud rate:

Click on the box to select the Baud rate from the given list.

 

Serial Mode:

Click on the box to select either RS-232 or RS-485 from the given list.

WI-FI

IP Address:

Displays the IP address of the Device. You can change it.

 

Subnet Mask:

Displays the Subnet Mask of the Device. You can change it.

 

Gateway:

Displays the Gateway address of the Device. You can change it.

 

Once entered, click on Save button to save the settings.

 

Upon completion of the process, the application will display the updated Device information.
